[It had taken Tus some time after waking up to actually notice the journal and pick it up. Possibly because he was not only wondering how he came to be in this place, but how he came to be anywhere at all. He was reasonably sure he remembered dying.
The only explanation was that the dagger was involved, of course. His first thought was that Dastan had activated it, but then, why did he remember? He must have activated it himself, without entirely meaning to.
He turns his attention to the journal, reading the note, and isn't aware that he's activated the audio function.]

[He cuts off. It will do no good, sitting here and speculating. He must find Dastan, and the dagger. He must find Nizam, and put a stop to this. It is his duty to see that his kingdom is restored; no one else's.]
Whatever you have done, Nizam, I will stop you.
[Tus tucks the journal under his arm and heads out, determined to find those he's looking for, and a way out. He'll be moving from the barracks to outside, so feel free to run into him anywhere, if you don't mind likely not being able to understand anything he says. Or reply here?]

Date: 2011-08-29 07:25 pm (UTC)Of course, fussing with making sure she's completely bundled up, Bryn's not exactly paying attention to where she's going, and bumps into Tus completely by accident on her way out of the barracks. If it wasn't for all the layers catching on her feet she might have steadied herself, but as it is, she falls on her bottom on the ground.]
Ow...
[Commentlog] will tag both princes for added havoc!
Date: 2011-08-29 07:33 pm (UTC)As a matter of fact, it's been snowing a bit and she's been relatively unmoving, so she just might look like some sort of snow covered statue on first glance. She's halfway dozing when Tus comes tromping out of the building and golden eyes open and roll in his direction, one ear flicking his way.]
Are you not cold, friend?
[She still has not risen, calling out from her sleep spot to the unfamiliar man.]

Date: 2011-08-29 07:55 pm (UTC)And it is coming from the book.
Well. Daggers that turn back time, he supposes books that speak are really the only next logical step. Of course.
He looks at the journal again, and is moderately surprised to find that the words have been accompanied by text that, fortunately, he does understand.]
I had only just become aware of the existence of some of those forces before I found myself here. You have seen them yourself?
[There's a pause, because it is a book. Then he forges on ahead, because it seems to have answers.]
Someone other than Nizam managed to get ahold of these forces, then?

Date: 2011-08-29 08:02 pm (UTC)He manages to figure out that the book is asking after his uncle, and frowns. That is a complicated and very loaded question. He goes for the simplest answer.]
A pretender to the throne of Persia.

He leans down to offer her a hand up, giving her an apologetic smile, and an apology in Persian.]
My apologies, miss. I should have been watching my step much more closely. Are you unharmed?
[Commentlog] :D oh, EXCELLENT
Date: 2011-08-29 08:19 pm (UTC)He hears someone call to him, though, and stops, looking around for the sight of someone else in the snow, then frowns when he doesn't appear to see anyone.]
I cannot understand you. Perhaps if you were to come closer?

Date: 2011-08-29 08:30 pm (UTC)Thank you. I'm so sorry for running into you like that...I'm still getting used to all of these skirts and things...

She slowly rises from her sprawled position, leaning behind a perfect gryphon-angel as she moves to sit in the snow. Her tails comes to loosely wrap over her forefeet, better insulating her scales against the cold.]
Do you speak the common tongue?

He has no idea what language she's speaking, but he switches first to Aramaic, and then Elamite, asking if she understands in each, on the off chance that they do have a language in common.]

But - it is speaking.
Tus hesitates, confusion obvious on his face.]
I do not understand you, creature. I have no wish to harm you, if you will let me pass in peace.

Well, at least he seems friendly. Wanting to try some form of communication, Bryn draws her journal out and holds it up to him. She points to him, and then the record. Does he have one?]

And then frowns in confusion when she pulls out a book much like the one he'd found in the room he'd awoken him, and seems to be asking him if he has one.
Tus pulls out his own, showing it to her, and then looks at her questioningly.]

Date: 2011-08-29 10:29 pm (UTC)It seems we don't share a common language. This record will translate for us. My name is Bryn, and again, I'm so sorry for running into you like I did. I wasn't paying close attention to where I was going.
[Because yes, introductions came first, and then apologies, and as she assumed he was new, all of his questions after.
Bryn carefully reaches for his journal and if allowed, turns it to the page where she's written.]

Date: 2011-08-29 11:23 pm (UTC)Tus, have you ever had a gryphon side-eye you? Well, you're experiencing it now at full force. Zhaneel actually sighs and shakes her head, wings rustling a bit along her back. So many worlds these people came from, and not a single person that recognized her as an intelligent creature not prone to instant mauling. She rests her weight and leans back, actually holding up her forefeet in a very human 'dude, I mean you no harm' pose.]
I mean you no harm, although it is clear that you do not understand me.
[She moves a single forefoot to her neck satchel, then, moving slowly so as not to startle him. She pulls out .. a book; her journal, in fact. She shows it to him ..]
Do you have one?
[He might not understand her words, but the tone was clearly a question and she looks from him to the journal and back again. She doesn't like to strain herself with mindspeak, but she'll go that route next if need be.]

Date: 2011-08-29 11:47 pm (UTC)When her mannerisms seem very - human, and she's clearly attempting to convey that she doesn't intend to hurt him, Tus hesitates further. His sword drops, the tip pointing towards the ground, though he doesn't put it away.
And she pulls out a book. A creature with a book? A book that looks almost exactly like his.
Ah. He understands her meaning, and pulls out his own book.]

I fear I still do not know who Nizam is, however it would seem that...yes. It is someone other than whom you speak of pulling the strings. In this case, it seems to be Lord Deior. Prior to my incarceration here in the Keep, it was a one Captain Redd.
